ABSTRACT
Glutamate-like receptor (GLR) genes are a group of regulatory involved in many physiological processes plants. With 26 members the rice genome, functionalities most GLR remain unknown. To facilitate their potential uses improvement, an integrated strategy involving CRISPR-Cas9 mediated knockouts, deep mining and analyses transcriptomic responses to different abiotic stresses/hormone treatments gene CDS haplotype (gcHap) diversity 3,010 genomes was taken understand genes, which led us two conclusions. First, expansion into large family during evolution had gone through repeated duplication events occurred primarily clusters on chromosomes 9 6, accompanied with considerable functional differentiation. Secondly, except for extremely conserved ones ( OsGLR6.2 OsGLR6.3 ), rich gcHap exists at remaining played important roles population differentiation evidenced by very strong sub-specific differentiation, differentiated day-length stresses, phenotypic effects five knockout mutants yield traits, significant association major gcHaps loci genetic bottleneck artificial selection populations Xian indica ) Geng japonica modern breeding. Our results suggest values natural variation improving productivity tolerances stresses. Additional efforts needed determine these order identify ‘favorable’ alleles specific target traits environments application improvement future.
