An Experience-Sampling Study on Academic Stressors and Cyberloafing in College Students: The Moderating Role of Trait Self-Control

ABSTRACT
Student cyberloafing is a relatively new educational phenomenon and getting to be an outstanding issue that educators have face. It necessary find out important factors aggravate cyberloafing. Using experience sampling method, this study examined the relationship between academic stressors Once week for five consecutive weeks (T1–T5), 134 undergraduate students assessed extent of through electronic questionnaire. Additionally, participants completed trait self-control scale at Time 2. Results two-level regression analysis showed were negatively associated with within-person level (i.e., week-to-week changes), but not between-person level. Furthermore, pattern was only observed in low self-control, while those high less likely cyberloaf regardless stressors. These findings suggest can fluctuate over periods, especially individuals who lack self-control. Future research should consider from dynamic perspective individual-context interaction. Several practical implications are also discussed.
