Environmental Education in Initial Training: Effects of a Physical Activities and Sports in the Natural Environment Program for Sustainable Development

ABSTRACT
Training for sustainable development is an educational challenge of prime importance. Physical activity and sports in natural environments provide training committed to sustainability environmental education. The objective this study was assess the effects undergraduate program Activities Sports Natural Environments concerned with development. A total 113 students from Autonomous University Madrid (Spain) who are studying a Bachelor's Degree Activity Sciences Master's Teacher Secondary Education High School (specializing Education) were involved. Specifically, we aimed impact on three dimensions related Environmental (knowledge, behaviors, attitudes). Its effect also examined bearing mind students' sex, age profile (sportive educational). Mixed-methods used: quantitative approach, data collected Attitude validated scale; qualitative approach individual reflective diaries completed by that attended analyzed. results show positive regarding Education, both sportive profiles. do not present significant differences concerning gender variable, although information shows female perceived greater sensitivity during their practices. Regarding found youngest profile. To conclude, ratifies carried out generated improvements terms knowledge, behaviors attitudes toward environment Future research should use larger samples consider other variables education sustainability.
