Aging well in an aging society: physical health in older lesbian, gay, and bisexual adults

ABSTRACT
Introduction Older sexual minority people meet a double stigma in our society related to their identity and chronological age. The present study explores how experiences of discrimination prejudice, coming out, personal resiliency influence physical health older lesbian, gay, bisexual (LGB) adults. Methods Respondents were recruited through online advertisements an online-based survey. sample included 82 Italian cisgender LGB adults over 65 years: young (65–70 years; 78%) old-old (over 71 22%). Regarding orientation, the was composed women ( n = 30; 37%) men 52; 63%). Results ANOVAs’ findings showed that described lower levels compared men. At same time, reported higher prejudice Moreover, from hierarchical multiple regression analysis resiliency, fewer predictors health, regardless age categories. Conclusion These seem align with previous studies underline relevance investigating aging well people. Knowledge awareness LGBTQ+ issues are necessary for recognizing unique needs resources promoting healthy process.
