ABSTRACT
Background: Discriminating between major depressive disorder (MDD) and bipolar (BD) remains challenging cognitive deficits in MDD BD are generally recognized. In this study, the fractional amplitude of low-frequency fluctuation (fALFF) approach was performed to explore neural activity cognition first-episode, drug-naïve patients, as well relationship altered fALFF values clinical or psychometric variables. Methods: A total 21 25 41 healthy controls (HCs) completed assessments resting-state functional magnetic resonance imaging (rs-fMRI) scans study. The rs-fMRI data were analyzed by method Pearson correlation analyses variables cognition. Support vector machine (SVM) adopted identify three groups from each other with abnormal brain regions obtained group comparisons. Results: (1) significantly different frontal lobe, temporal left precuneus among groups. comparison HCs, showed increased right inferior gyrus (ITG) decreased middle gyrus, while cerebellar lobule IV/V. MDD, bilateral posterior cingulate VIII/IX. (2) group, a negative found ITG years education, positive VIII/IX visuospatial abilities. (3) may have ability discriminate patients sensitivity, specificity, accuracy all over 0.70. Conclusions: Abnormal activities observed related patients. abnormality cerebellum can be potentially used
