ABSTRACT
Introduction This study aimed to explore the relationships between problematic social networking site use (PSNSU), Internet Gaming Disorder (IGD), internet motives, and self-control among university students in China Japan. Specifically, it investigated indirect effects of on IGD PSNSU through various considering gender differences. Methods A sample 697 (465 females; 397 Chinese) was surveyed. Path analysis conducted separately for male female users examine self-control, IGD, PSNSU. Results The results indicated that had significant enhancement (β = 0.096**, p 0.005), -0.090**, 0.007), conformity -0.117**, 0.001) but these were observed only group. Self-control also exhibited enhancement, social, coping, with a greater impact than IGD. Gender differences mediating identified, males females showing distinct patterns. Discussion findings highlight importance understanding motivational factors use. These insights contribute better how motives influence different contexts.
