Studies on irritable bowel syndrome associated with anxiety or depression in the last 20 years: A bibliometric analysis

ABSTRACT
Irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) associated with anxiety or depression is ubiquitous in clinical practice, and multiple related articles have been published. However, studies that utilize bibliometric analyses to address this topic are rare. In our study, we aimed reveal research trends IBS depression. Publications on relation the last 20 years were obtained from Web of Science Core Collection (WoSCC). CiteSpace software (5.8.R3) GraphPad Prism 8 used perform analysis authors, countries, institutions, journals, keywords, references involved topic. A total 2,562 publications 716 academic journals included study. The majority ( n = 833, 32.51%) USA, University California, Los Angeles, contributed most 97, 3.79%). Active cooperations among countries institutions observed. Neurogastroenterology Motility [impact factor (IF) 2020 3.598] published papers (170 publications, 6.64%), followed by Alimentary Pharmacology Therapeutics (IF 8.171; 88 publications; 3.44%). literatures primarily medicine/medical/clinical, neurology/sports/ophthalmology, molecular/biology/immunology. Cryan JF Drossman DA, largest number (84 publications) citations (917 citations), respectively, considered as influential authors field. 336 co-cited divided into 17 clusters, #1 fecal microbiota transplantation contained documents recent years. Moreover, keyword “psychosocial factor” had burst strength 13.52, “gut microbiota” a 11.71. This study shows performance 2002 2021 helps researchers master trend field, which should receive more attention.
