ABSTRACT
Background Studies have shown that policies to promote physical activity in schools can a positive impact on children's behavior. However, large research gap exists as what determinants may influence the adoption of such policies. Applying Consolidated Framework for Implementation Research (CFIR), we investigated barriers and facilitators elementary Baden-Wuerttemberg, Germany, from perspective school principals. Methods A cross-sectional study was conducted between May June 2021. School principals special needs ( n = 2,838) were invited participate study. The online questionnaire used developed based CFIR included questions characteristics constructs domains inner setting, individuals, process. Logistic regression analyses performed examine associations policy well determinants. Results In total, 121 (4%) participated survey, which 49 (40.5%) reported having adopted activity. Positive with found general willingness among teaching staff [odds ratio (OR): 5.37, 95% confidence interval (CI): 1.92–15.05], available resources (OR: 2.15, CI: 1.18–3.91), access knowledge information 2.11, 1.09–4.09), stakeholder engagement 3.47, 1.24–9.75). Conclusions This provides first insight into potential at organizational level be relevant policies, due low response rate, results must interpreted caution. strength this includes theoretical foundation through use CFIR. could well-adapted setting provided valuable support developing interpreting results.
