ABSTRACT
South Asia is a demographically crucial, economically aspiring, and socio-culturally diverse region in the world. The contributes to large burden of surgically-treatable disease conditions. A number people cannot access safe affordable surgical, obstetric, trauma, anesthesia (SOTA) care when need. Yet, attention Global Surgery Health limited. Here, we assess status SOTA Asia. We summarize evidence on indicators planning. Region-wide, as well country-specific challenges are highlighted. also discuss potential directions—initiatives innovations—toward addressing these challenges. Local partnerships, sustained research advocacy efforts, politics can be aligned with evidence-based policymaking health planning achieve equitable Asian under Association for Regional Cooperation (SAARC).
