ABSTRACT
A dog with bilateral renal dioctophymosis presented stage 5 acute kidney injury, weight loss, vomiting, apathy, and hematuria. Laboratory tests showed creatinine of 17.2 mg/dL Dioctophyme renale eggs in the urine. It underwent a 30-min session hyperbaric oxygen preconditioning at pressure 2 ATA. Subsequently, nephroscopy was performed, without warm ischemia, using Amplatz-type dilators. Five parasites were removed, three females from right kidney, one female left male abdominal cavity. After surgery, patient continued doing daily therapy (HBOT) sessions clinical therapy. Postoperative care consisted analgesics, antimicrobials, antioxidants, gastric protector fluid Ultrasound monitoring reduction area dilation hematological biochemical rapid recovery injury. There no bacterial growth urine sample collected directly kidneys. The had an excellent progression discharged hospital 7 days postoperatively, values 2.9 mg/dL. This is first report use treatment indicates chances cure even severe cases parasitosis. HBOT shown to be ally patients D. by helping stabilization postoperative recovery.
