Football Match Line-Up Prediction Based on Physiological Variables: A Machine Learning Approach

One of the great challenges for football coaches is to choose line-up that gives more guarantees success. Even though there are several dimensions analyse problem, such as opposing team characteristics. The objective this study identify, based on players’ physiological variables collected using Global Positioning Systems (GPS), which players most suitable be part starting team/line-up. work was developed in two stages, first with choice important Recursive Feature Elimination algorithm, and then logistic regression these chosen variables. resulted an index, called preparedness following player positions: Fullbacks, Central Midfielders Wingers. For other positions, model results were not satisfactory.
