ABSTRACT
Sea ice acts as both an indicator and amplifier of climate change. High spatial resolution (HSR) imagery is important data source in Arctic sea research for extracting physical parameters, calibrating/validating models. HSR images are difficult to process manage due their large volume, heterogeneous sources, complex spatiotemporal distributions. In this paper, Cyberinfrastructure (ArcCI) module developed that allows a reliable efficient on-demand image batch processing on the web. For module, available associated datasets collected presented through open portal. The ArcCI offers architecture based cloud computing big components images, including functionalities (1) acquisition File Transfer Protocol (FTP) transfer, front-end uploading, transfer; (2) storage Hadoop distributed file system matured operational relational database; (3) object-based classification parameter extraction features; (4) 3D visualization dynamic distribution extracted parameters with flexible statistical charts. researchers can search find arctic relevant metadata portal, obtain conduct visual analytics interactively. Users number leverage service high performance manner cloud, manage, analyze results one place. will assist domain scientists investigating polar ice, be easily transferred other projects.
