ABSTRACT
The diagnostic accuracy of up-front 18F-fluorodeoxyglucose positron emission tomography/computed tomography (PET/CT) for detecting cervical lymph node metastases in patients with T1-T2 oral squamous cell carcinoma is reported large discrepancies across the literature. We investigated sensitivity, specificity, positive and negative predictive value, PET/CT this patient group compared performance to magnetic resonance imaging (MRI). In prospective cohort study, 76 underwent an MRI at Odense University Hospital from September 2013 February 2016. Sentinel biopsy elective neck dissection were used histopathological verification modalities. Up-front was significantly more sensitive than (74% vs. 27%, p = 0.0001), but less specific (60% 88%, 0.001). comparable (66% 63%, 0.85), PPV slightly favor (56% 62%, 0.73), NPV (77% 0.16). Neither nor should stand alone N-staging cavity cancer.
