Exploring User Experience and Usability in a Metaverse Learning Environment for Students: A Usability Study of the Artificial Intelligence, Innovation, and Society (AIIS)

ABSTRACT
The metaverse, a rapidly evolving research area, is virtual, interconnected universe that seamlessly integrates digital and physical realms, facilitating immersive experiences, social interaction, economic activities across various fields, including computer science, business, education. Despite its potential to transform current pedagogies learning experiences through engaging, interactive, fascinating educational techniques, limited in exploring application, usability, user experience, particularly for Thai undergraduate students engineering courses. In response, we designed developed an innovative metaverse-based system called the AIIS collaborative interface, tailored European students. While original intent of was cater medical students, this study, our objective assess usability applicability science specifically focusing on Asian demographic. After initial pilot with their local context, extended Thailand, where 21 evaluated platform’s usability. observations from study indicate provides dynamic, user-friendly environment. Nevertheless, evaluation process unveiled some flaws offer informative directions future enhancements. Drawing observations, formulated guidelines guide designers developers toward crafting more efficient metaverse systems, those intended use. Our results also underline considerable promise technologies hold advancing higher education globally.
