ABSTRACT
Energy poverty can be defined as the inability to pay bills that are required for maintaining comfort conditions (usually in winter) dwellings. The use of energy efficient systems is one way forward mitigate this problem, with option being electrically driven air source heat pump water heater. This paper assesses performance a centralised (200 kW heating capacity) meet space demand block dwellings Madrid (tier four out five winter severity Spain). Two models have been developed obtain following variables: hourly thermal and off-design performance. proposed by motor variable rotational speed modulate capacity an way. A back-up system also considered peak demand. levelised cost 92.22 €/MWh obtained middle-level efficiency housing (class E, close D). Moreover, energy-environmental parameters achieved: more than 74% share renewable primary 131.7 g CO2 avoided per kWh met. reduction 60% dwelling if retrofit carried out, improving class from E C. These results prove technology among most promising measures addressing vulnerable households.
