Internalized Homonegativity, Emotion Dysregulation, and Isolating Behaviors Perpetration among Gay and Lesbian Couples

ABSTRACT
Same-sex intimate partner violence (SSIPV) is a serious health concern and may manifest in various forms. Nevertheless, controlling behaviors of isolation are still poorly investigated. Due to their marginalized status, sexual minorities can face SSIPV-specific risk factors, such as internalized homonegativity, well general psychological stress emotion dysregulation. While the literature growing, there lack understanding complex pathways linking minority IPV isolating behavior. To fill this gap, we explored relation between homonegativity isolation, assessing mediating role In total, 120 gay lesbian people (mean age = 33.8, SD 11.5) involved same-sex relationship participated study. Results showed direct positive association difficulties regulation dysregulation isolation; was supported well. Emerging results provide valuable information at clinical level, although further studies needed confirm these preliminary findings.
