ABSTRACT
Handwritten Text Recognition (HTR) is essential for digitizing historical documents in different kinds of archives. In this study, we introduce a hybrid form archive written French: the Belfort civil registers births. The digitization these challenging due to their unique characteristics such as writing style variations, overlapped characters and words, marginal annotations. objective survey paper summarize research on handwritten text provide directions toward effectively transcribing French dataset. To achieve goal, presented brief several modern HTR offline systems international languages, top state-of-the-art contributions reported language specifically. classifies based techniques employed, datasets used, publication years, level recognition. Furthermore, an analysis systems' accuracies presented, highlighting best-performing approach. We have also showcased performance some commercial systems. addition, presents summarization that publicly available, especially those identified benchmark International Conference Document Analysis (ICDAR) Frontiers Handwriting (ICFHR) competitions. This paper, therefore, updated highlights new field.
