ABSTRACT
Begomoviruses can be found in association with alphasatellites, which are capable of autonomous replication but dependent on the helper begomovirus for systemic infection, encapsidation and vector transmission. Previous studies suggest that presence NW alphasatellites (genus Clecrusatellite) is associated more severe symptoms. To better understand this interaction, we investigated effects two infectivity, symptom development, viral DNA accumulation transmission three begomoviruses hosts. In tomato Nicotiana benthamiana, all combinations were infectious. Leonurus sibiricus, only ToYSV/ToYSA combination was The EuYMA increased severity EuYMV ToYSV N. ToYSA symptoms benthamiana L. sibiricus. reduced ToSRV benthamiana. decreased negatively affected by Bemisia tabaci MEAM1. Together, our results indicate interact different begomoviruses, increasing interfering begomovirus. Understanding interaction important as it may affect emergence diseases caused begomovirus–alphasatellite complexes field.
