ABSTRACT
Uniquely selected breeds bred over thousands of years domestication in a wide range environments have been declared extinct the last century. Still more are at risk becoming and rate continues to accelerate. Assessing current status possible future dynamics livestock is therefore critical step management Animal Genetic Resources (AnGR). This study applies qualitative approach comprehensively analyze cattle genetic resources countries order better understand those that need be considered and/or quasi-extant. The each breed, i.e., not risk, critical, endangered extinct, was verified using information available Domestic Diversity Information System (DAD-IS) web site, as well statistics (where available) breed survey. In most examples, listed played important roles development new breeds, should classified unless proven otherwise, given even existing vivo developing. Therefore, quasi-extant for this category suggested. addition, based on findings study, concept needs questioned relates it being good measure diversity. Further investigations situation (and other species) countries/continents similar categories deemed necessary.
