ABSTRACT
This paper proposes an optimization based maximum power point tracking (MPPT) algorithm for selection of appropriate external rotor resistances wound induction generator (WRIG). The coupled with a Wells turbine is used in oscillating water column (OWC) wave plants. suffers stalling behaviour that reduces the average output significantly. Hence, objective to prevent aerodynamic and hence maximizing simultaneously. But inappropriate resistance leads excessive loss. Therefore, two approaches have been applied: (i) values are selected manually by trial error method or non-optimized approach (ii) performance index has derived minimized using particle swarm technique obtain optimized resistance. Simulation results performed efficiency, loss Finally, proposed control illustrated particular cases regular irregular waves.
