ABSTRACT
Mpox, declared a Public Health Emergency of International Concern by the World Organization (WHO), poses growing global threat. The resurgence, driven highly transmissible and severe clade Ib strain from Democratic Republic Congo, raises concerns about potential pandemic. This narrative review aims to identify actionable strategies mitigate current Mpox outbreak leveraging lessons past health crises, particularly COVID-19, highlight future research priorities essential for preparedness. A comprehensive literature 2018 2024 was conducted using Google Scholar, Scopus, PubMed databases, focusing on transmission, vaccine efficacy, antiviral treatments, public responses. Our findings revealed that resurgence is fueled viral evolution, ecological changes, inadequate surveillance, exacerbated inequitable healthcare access insufficient infrastructure. While existing vaccines, such as Jynneos ACAM2000, offer protection, their long-term efficacy safety across diverse populations require further study. Antiviral including tecovirimat brincidofovir, show promise but lack optimized care protocols face challenges emerging resistance. Lessons COVID-19 response underscore importance enhancing surveillance systems, strengthening infrastructure, ensuring equitable distribution, fostering community engagement. Effective management also requires standardized treatment guidelines integration genomic monitoring track evolution drug Urgent international collaboration needed avert Priorities include advancing optimizing therapies, improving cases. Actionable recommendations robust policies, sustainable funding, strengthen pandemic preparedness Mpox’s impact.
