ABSTRACT
Wind-farm-side modular multilevel converters (WFMMCs) used in converter based high-voltage direct current (MMC-HVDC) transmission systems must be able to control the AC grid voltage offshore wind farms. Different strategies can significantly affect dynamic characteristics of WFMMCs. However, existing studies have not provided a general methodology controller parameter design, and few comparative been conducted on performance under varying operating conditions as well effects different modes (AVCMs) stability MMC-HVDCs with This paper provides design method for AVCMs, which is tested various scenarios. Sequence impedance models farms WFMMCs AVCMs are then developed. The small-signal interconnected system analyzed compared using impedance-based method. Finally, case practical MMC-HVDC verify theoretical analysis.
