ABSTRACT
<p>This paper develops a scalable dc reconfigurable battery pack (RBP) and the accompanying hierarchical balancing algorithm. The cells in RBP are divided into several modules, each module is equipped with slave controller that only responsible for subset of cells. system performs closed-loop control allocates desired voltage steps modules. algorithm significantly reduces communication computation requirements large-scale applications. Moreover, considering second-harmonic current (SHC) widely existing single-phase dc/ac system, which may induce aging cells, used to suppress SHC first time without an additional central dc/dc converter. Due high output quality low-frequency operation RBP, filter size can be reduced efficiency improved. Experimental validation proposed scheme presented using containing 48 3-Ah 18650 lithium-ion results show method effectively balance SHC. </p>
