ABSTRACT
<p>We propose a complete system to enable progressive coding with quality scalability of the mesh geometry, in MPEG’s state-of-the-art Video-based Dynamic Mesh Coding (V-DMC) framework. In particular, we an alternative method for encoding subdivision wavelet coefficients V-DMC, using mesh-based zerotree approach. The proposed works directly native 3D space. It allows us identify parent-child relationships amongst across different levels, which can be used achieve efficient and versatile mechanism. We demonstrate that, given starting base mesh, target surface desired maximum number passes, our produces elegant visually attractive lossy-to-lossless geometry reconstruction no further user intervention. Moreover, lossless coefficient approach is shown require almost same bitrate as default displacement methods V-DMC. Yet, provides several levels resolution within each bitrate, while current solutions encode single level only. To best knowledge, this first time that zerotree-based has been demonstrated work compression dynamic time-varying meshes, embedded quality-scalable V-DMC framework.</p>
