Copeptin Levels and Thyroid Hormone Dynamics in Patients with Goiter in Kirkuk City

ABSTRACT
This study investigates the relationship between copeptin levels, thyroid hormone concentrations, and body mass index (BMI) in patients with goiter. The experiment was conducted from beginning of April 2023 until end September 2023, samples were collected Azadi Teaching Hospital Kirkuk City. Sixty blood divided inti two groups: 40 goiter 20 healthy individuals. analyzed for hormones (T3, T4, TSH) using enzyme–linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA) results revealed significantly higher levels copeptin, T3, TSH compared to controls, smoking found exacerbate dysfunction, as smoker tend have non-smokers, patient observed a BMI, highlighting complex smoking, metabolic processes. In elevated associated increased activity, activation hypothalamic- pituitary- adrenal (HPA) axis, heightened systemic inflammation. also examined role smoking- induced oxidative stress inflammation driving these changes.
