ABSTRACT
Background: Lateral sphincterotomy is now the standard surgical treatment for chronic anal fissure. Aims and Objectives: To determine outcome of closed lateral in fissures. Materials Methods: This was a prospective cross-sectional study conducted Department Surgery, Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University, Dhaka, Bangladesh during period from September 2009 to June 2010 with view For this purpose, 50 patients fissures were enrolled after inclusion exclusion criteria. Results: The age respondents ranging 23 60 years mean 39.140 ± 8.767 years. Fifty-two percent male 48.0% female ratio 1.08:1. duration symptoms 1 13 5.920 3.875 pain score decreased 5.32 at baseline 0.04 6 weeks (p<0.001), 96.0% free follow up. Complete healing occurred 76.0% 2nd week, 86.0% 4th week 90.0% 6th sphincterotomy. Early postoperative complication such as superficial wound infection 6.0% minor incontinence 8.0% patients. Of incontinence, had flatus 2.0% liquid but only present 4.0% At end up period, satisfactory found 45 (90.0%) unsatisfactory 10.0% Conclusion: fissure high success rate patients’ satisfaction low complication.
