ABSTRACT
Background: There are substantial opportunities to improve the quality of cardiovascular care in developing countries through implementation a program.Objective: To evaluate effect Best Practice Cardiology (BPC) program on performance measures and patient outcomes related heart failure, atrial fibrillation acute coronary syndromes subset Brazilian public hospitals.Methods: The Boas Práticas em Cardiologia was adapted from American Heart Association's (AHA) Get With Guidelines (GWTG) Program for use Brazil.The is being started simultaneously three domains (acute syndrome, failure), which an approach that has never been tested within GWTG.There six axes interventions borrowed knowledge translation literature will address local barriers identified structured interviews regular audit feedback meetings.The intervention planned include at least 10 hospitals 1,500 patients per condition.The primary endpoint includes rates overall adherence recommended by guidelines.Secondary endpoints length stay, specific mortality, readmission rates, life, patients' health perception prescribed interventions.Results: It expected participating sustain their evidencebased recommendations outcomes.This first such improvement (QI) South America provide important information how successful programs developed like United States can be meet needs with economies Brazil.Also, give valuable development QI other countries.Conclusions: This real-world study provides assessing increasing cardiology guidelines Brazil, as well improvements processes.(
