Morphometry of the Placental Vessels

The morphometry of the placental vessels was studied on a number 51 normal term placentas, using plastic injection (Technovit 7143), followed by sodium hydroxide corrosion. In cases, we found diameter umbilical vein between 6.2-10.5 mm, most commonly, in 54.90% finding it 8.0-8.6 mm. trunk arised from 2-4 branches, 41.18% being made 2 branches. We observed arteries 42 cases. artery 1, 2.5-6.0 frequently, 45.24% having 4.0-4.9 ratio 1 and corresponding venous commonly 50.0-58.82%. 2, 3.0-8.5 53.66% 4.0-4.8 trunk, 40.0-46.51%, one case, equal to trunk. Comparing diameters two 41 56.10% larger then 0.2-2.5 mm 39.02% 0.1-0.9 8.20% cases had same diameter. Keywords: placental, vessels,
