Efficacy of propofol-fentanyl-sevoflurane anesthesia under spontaneous respiration with nasopharyngeal airway-face mask for pediatric minor surgery: a comparison with laryngeal mask airway

Objective To compare the efficacy of combined intravenous-inhalational anesthesia with propofol-fentanyl-sevoflurane in children undergoing minor surgery under spontaneous breathing nasopharyngeal airway-face mask versus laryngeal airway (LMA).Methods Seventy-two children,scheduled for elective high ligation indirect inguinal hernia,were randomly divided into 2 groups (n =36 each):nasopharyngeal group (group M) and LMA L).Propofol 1.0 mg/kg fentanyl 2.0μg/kg were injected intravenously.The was kept.After lass consciousness,a face placed inhalation pure oxygen at L/min 3 ％ sevoflurane.When BIS value reached 50-60,a size inserted L a via left nasal cavity held tightly connected to machine M.Anesthesia maintained 2％-4％ sevoflurane.Fentanyl 1 μg/kg intravenously 5 min before skin incision.The concentration sevoflurane adjusted maintain 40-60 during surgery.Mean arterial pressure,heart rate,partial pressure end-tidal carbon dioxide pulse saturation recorded induction,at induction,immediately after successful insertion airway,at incision,3 incision,and immediately removal airway.The time,success rate first attempt,emergence time,and adverse reactions recorded.Results Compared L,mean heart significantly decreased or removal,nasopharyngeal time shortened success attempt (100％) increased,and agitation score incidence obstruction upper respiratory tract M (P ＜ 0.05).Conclusion Combined inravenous-inhalational is easy establish airway,can breathing,has little influence on circulatory function reduce complications recovery from mask,and better than that LMA.
