ABSTRACT
Objective To observe the effect of hyperbaric oxygen (HBO) therapy on bone ingrowth into porous implant in a rabbit model avascular necrosis femoral head induced by dexamethasone. Methods Thirty-two New Zealand rabbits were subject to intramuscular injection dexamethasone twice week for 8 weeks. Then, rabbits divided 4 groups:control group,HBO group, recombinant human morphogenetie protein-2 (rhBMP-2) group and HBO + rhBMP-2 randomly. The femurs control implanted with bare implants, while implants collagen compounded rhBMP-2.Control treated without HBO;HBO HBO.All sacrificed at 12th weeks after operation. All samples right used making hard tissue slices, while all left biomechanics test. Results The oaseointegration rate:HBO > group. The difference between was not statistically significant (P>0.05).Differences among other groups (P<0.05).New group.Differences every two (P<0.05).The results pull out test showed that anti-shearing force greater than group, the differences (P <0.05).Anti-shearing little group, but there no 0.05).Anti-shearing significantly (P<0.05). Conclusions can improve osseointegration rate implant, promote new implant, enhance integration strength implant.HBO have cooperative effect, but carrier prevent implant. Key words: Hyperbaric oxygen; Hormone; Necrosis head; Porous implant;  Osseointegration
