ABSTRACT
Background With the increasing popularity of cosmetic facial filler injections in recent years, more and associated complications have been reported. However, causative surgical procedures preventative measures not studied well up to now. The aim this stady was investigate clinical characteristics visual prognosis fundus artery occlusion resulting from injections. Methods Thirteen consecutive patients with caused by were included. Main outcome materials, injection sites, best-corrected acuity (BCVA), fluorescein angiography, ocular systemic manifestations. Results Eleven had ophthalmic (OAO) one patient each central retinal (CRAO) anterior ischemic optic neuropathy (AION). Injected materials included autologous fat (seven cases), hyaluronic acid (five bone collagen (one case). Injection sites frontal area periocular (two temple nose nasal (4 cases). worse final BCVA than acid. seven no light perception. Most OAO pain, headache, ptosis, ophthalmoplegia, improvement BCVA. Conclusions Cosmetic can cause occlusion. Autologous tends be painful blindness, poor outcomes. is much injection.
