ABSTRACT
To study the relationship between non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) and atherosclerosis in young middle-aged patients, to provide clinical evidence that will aid prevention prediction of development or cardiovascular diseases patients with fatty liver disease (NAFLD).Fifty-one biopsy-proven NAFLD (18 60 years age) were divided into two groups: cases simple (NAFL, n = 11) NASH (n 40). All subjects underwent physical examination anthropometric measurements. Fasting serum was assayed by blood biochemistry. Insulin resistance estimated homeostatic model assessment index (HOMA-IR). Serum levels high-sensitivity C-reactive protein (hs-CRP), soluble intercellular adhesion molecule-1 (sICAM-1), endothelin-1 (ET-1) detected enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay. Carotid intima-media thickness (CIMT) carotid ultrasound. Brachial-ankle pulse wave velocity (baPWV) ankle-brachial using a volume-plethysmographic apparatus. Data for groups summarized as mean +/- SD interquartile range intergroup differences evaluated paired t-test Wilcoxon test, two-sided P-values less than 0.05 indicating significance. The hs-CRP, sICAM-1, ET-1 significantly higher group NAFL (all P 0.001). In addition, CIMT baPWV (both 0.05). The HOMA-IR also (P 0.001).Liver inflammation insulin may play important, possibly collaborative, roles promoting arterial endothelial dysfunction patients. especially those who are middle-aged, benefit from early monitoring strategies help decrease risk developing severe diseases.
