Vaginal floral characteristics and the influence factors in postpartum women

Objective To investigate the vaginal flora characteristics,clinical symptoms and signs of lactating women 6-8 weeks after delivery influence factors.Methods Two hundred twenty-three puerpera who went to outpatient department Peking University First Hospital for postpartum review (study group) 200 normal non-pregnant (control from April May,2010 were enrolled into this study.All in study group evaluated by a questionnaire regarding their symptoms,sexual behavior,breast-feeding situation mode.Vaginal secretions upper 1/3 vagina collected microbial evaluation system.Bacterial vaginosis (BV) was diagnosed if Nugent score ≥ 7.Enumeration data between groups compared t test,and quantitative Chi-square test.Results The density different that control (x2 =96.302,P＜0.001) ; so did diversity two =69.871,P＜0.001).There no difference mean age [(30.5 ± 3.9) years] [(30.9 2.4)years],P＞0.05.The cesarean section rate 52.7％ (89/169),13 (7.7％) had began sexual behavior before interview,116 (70.3％) took breast-feeding.Dominant bacteria Gram-positive cocci (69/175,39.4％) bacillus (54/175, 30.9％), which (Gram-positive bacillus,180/189,95.2％),P＜0.001.The pH 5.0±0.5,which higher than (＜4.5) group.In group,incidence lower hydrogen peroxide level 84.3 ％ (177/210) positive sialidase 6.7 (14/210) leukocyte esterase 91.0％ (191/210).A large number an abnormal score,most them showed state intermediate BV (132/195,67.7％) or (8/195,4.1％),while few patients (23.5％,33/140).Sexual significant effect on flora.The proportion breast feeding mothers (74.1 ％,86/116) significantly (57.1％,28/49) artificial mothers,P=0.034.Delivery mode also affected flora.Women underwent more susceptible (77.5％,69/89) those (57.5％,46/80),x2 =7.726,P=0.005.Conclusions Vaginal nonpregnant women.The incidence asymptomatic high.Breastfeeding are factors flora.
