ABSTRACT
Objective To demonstrate the efficacy of fixation with short-segment thoracolumbar pedicle screws through Wiltse paraspinal approach in treatment spine fracture without neurotrosis. Methods A retrospective analysis was conducted 48 patients who had undergone intramedullary screw from November 2013 to January 2015. The adopted 24 (group A), 12 males and females, a mean age 48.1 ± 8.0 years. conventional B), 19 5 46.7 13.1 2 groups were compatible preoperative demographic data (P > 0.05) . Operation time, blood loss, time for ambulation, visual analogue scale (VAS) scores waist pain pre- post-operation, recovery rates anterior vertebral height pre-operation, post-operation but pre-ambulation at last follow-up compared between groups. Results No incision infection or implant failure occurred either group. operation loss time ambulation group A significantly less than B 0.05). Conclusion Although both approaches can lead favorable reduction, result shorter operative trauma, quicker recovery. Key words: Spinal fractures; Fracture fixation, internal; Bone nails
