ABSTRACT
Abstract We investigate the properties of voids and void galaxies in TNG300 simulation. Using a luminous galaxy catalog spherical void-finding algorithm, we identify 5078 at redshift z = 0. The cover 83% simulation volume have median radius 4.4 h −1 Mpc. two populations field based on whether reside within (“void galaxies”; 75,220 objects) or outside (“nonvoid 527,454 objects). Within voids, mass does not directly trace light. Instead, mean radial underdensity profile as defined by locations is systematically lower than dark matter (i.e., are more “devoid” they mass). integrated profiles independent local background density voids-in-voids versus voids-in-clouds). Beyond radii, however, both exhibit strong dependencies density. Compared to nonvoid galaxies, average younger, less massive, bluer color, metal enriched, smaller radii. In addition, specific star formation rates ∼20% higher and, case with central supermassive black holes M BH ≳ 3 × 10 6 ⊙ , fraction active ∼25% galaxies.
