ABSTRACT
Abstract We present the spectral and timing study of bright neutron star low-mass X-ray binary GX 5-1 using AstroSat/Large Area Proportional Counter (LAXPC) Soft Telescope observations conducted in 2018. During observation, source traces out complete horizontal branch (HB) normal (NB) Z-track hardness–intensity diagram (HID). Understanding temporal evolution along can probe accretion process vicinity a star. Spectral analysis was performed 0.7–20 keV energy range for different segments HID multitemperature disk blackbody with an average temperature, kT ∼ 0.47, thermal Comptonization model. It is found that optical depth corona drops from ∼7.07 HB to ∼2.61 NB. The LAXPC instrument indicates presence quasiperiodic oscillations NB Z-track. observed QPO frequencies are similar characteristic (HBOs) (NBOs). HBO frequency increases ∼12 40 Hz toward hard apex. NBOs at ∼5 Hz. studies soft bands indicate association NBO origin nonthermal component. Further research could explore implications this relationship understanding dynamics onto stars.
