ABSTRACT
Icariside II is a flavonoid extracted from Epimedium that has antioxidant, anti‑inflammatory and antiapoptotic effects. The aim of the present study was to evaluate effects icariside on diabetic cardiomyopathy in streptozotocin-induced rats. treatment improved body weight, heart/body weight ratio fasting blood glucose model demonstrated reduce expression levels creatine kinase lactate dehydrogenase serum, lower cardiac oxidative stress, inflammation apoptosis induced phosphoinositide 3‑kinase phosphorylated‑Akt expression, suppressed inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) nuclear factor (NF)‑κB protein rat. Results suggested with streptozotocin‑induced rats by activating Akt/NOS/NF‑κB pathway.
