ABSTRACT
Transmembrane protein 40 (TMEM40) is a 23‑kDa and its association with tongue squamous cell carcinoma (TSCC) remains unclear. This study aimed to investigate the expression clinical significance of TMEM40 in TSCC roles cells. Immunohistochemical analysis was performed detect levels 60 tissue samples. Furthermore, overexpressed inhibited two lines by transfection pEZ‑M98‑TMEM40 plasmid or small interfering RNA, respectively. Cell Counting Kit‑8 colony formation assays were used effects on proliferation ability, Flow cytometry determine apoptosis cycle conditions transfected Wound‑healing Transwell processed explore migration invasion, The results indicated that significantly increased tissues compared adjacent normal (P<0.01). Clinicopathological revealed positively correlated pathological TNM (pTNM) status (P<0.05), histological grade (P<0.001) stage (P<0.01), but not sex age. Results proliferation, apoptosis, invasion when had been successfully knocked down CAL27 SCC9 lines, growth overexpressing cells, while they decreased TMEM40‑knockdown experiments knockdown resulted p53 Bax, MMP‑9, which regulated via involvement p53, Bax MMP‑9 Our findings contributed progressive features regulation MMP‑9.
