Exploring diversity within the genus Tulostoma (Basidiomycota, Agaricales) in the Pannonian sandy steppe: four fascinating novel species from Hungary

ABSTRACT
Steppe vegetation on sandy soil in Hungary has recently been revealed as one of the hot spots Europe for stalked puffballs (genus Tulostoma ). In framework taxonomic revision gasteroid fungi Hungary, four species are described here new to science: T. dunense , hungaricum sacchariolens and shaihuludii . The study is based detailed macro- micromorphological investigations (including light scanning electron microscopy), well a three-locus phylogeny nrDNA ITS, LSU tef1-α sequences. ITS sequences generated from type specimen cretaceum provided this resolved partly taxonomy difficult complex aff. cretaceum.
