ABSTRACT
Twenty-five Bach Thao bucks (7 months old and 20.9±0.3 kg BW) were used to quantify the effect of concentrate supplementation on growth performance, rumen volatile fatty acid profile, digestibility plasma metabolites. Goats allocated into five treatment groups varying levels supplementation: Control (ad libitum access elephant grass), 0.6% C (control plus concentrates), 1.2% Concentrates), 1.8% Concentrates) 2.4% as a percentage liveweight dry matter basis. Growth feed intake measured in 6 week feeding trial period after 3 initial adaptation. In vivo was assessed 10th by total faecal collection method. There significant increases average daily gain (ADG), digestibilities (DM), organic (OM) crude protein (CP) dietary increased. However, neutral detergent fibre (NDF) not different between concentrate-supplemented groups. Pre-feeding ammonia concentration fluid treatments, but 4hrs feeding, differences detected. The values ranged from 100-200 mg L⁻¹ at both times measurement. Rumen pH post-feeding. Volatile concentrations propionate butyrate increased with increasing concentrates consumed, contrast decreased acetate concentration. This study clearly demonstrated that offered up live weight DM basis resulted greatest improvement ADG, nutrient digestibility, thus, confirming tested hypothesis level will improve productive performance goats without an adverse fermentation digestibility.
