ABSTRACT
Elevated neutrophil-to-lymphocyte (NLR) and platelet-to-lymphocyte ratios (PLR) may represent markers of a suboptimal host immune response to cancer have been shown correlate with prognosis in multiple tumor types across different treatment modalities, including radiation therapy. Limited data suggest that NLR predict for survival disease control patients receiving selective internal therapy (SIRT). The correlation between clinical outcomes change PLR after SIRT has not evaluated. We retrospectively reviewed 339 consecutive primary (n=37) or metastatic (n=79) liver treated from 2006 2014. Complete blood counts differential were available 116 both before (median, 29 20 days, respectively) SIRT. Survival progression calculated date initial Patient characteristics evaluated ability overall (OS) free (PFS) included pre- post-treatment neutrophil, platelet, lymphocyte (LCs), as well NLR, PLR, relative PLR. Cutoff values determined variables significant on multivariate analysis (MVA) OS and/or PFS.Median follow-up surviving was 12 months. Median 8 months metastasis diagnosis. Significant factors univariate (UVA) lower PFS higher neutrophil count (NC), volume, percentage burden, worse Eastern Cooperative Oncology Group (ECOG) performance status. MVA ECOG status ≥2, pretreatment increase Post-treatment >3-fold the most predictive early marker increased risk death when compared those whose did <3-fold. Pretreatment >78 serum associated improved prior therapy. This is largest study evaluate association SIRT, results confirm are outcomes. local extrahepatic related datum reported literature. impact changes underlying implications these should be further characterized prospective study.
