ABSTRACT
The Mediterranean Sea shows a trend of increasing temperature and decreasing productivity from the western to eastern basin. In this work we investigate whether is reflected in cephalopod assemblages found throughout Mediterranean. Data obtained with bottom trawl surveys carried out during last 22 years by EU countries were used. addition analysing spatial differences assemblages, also analysed putative temporal changes two decades. For purpose, basin was spatially divided into bioregions, trawling grounds subdivided depth strata, dataset split time series 11 each. All analyses done using PRIMER software. species richness did not vary longitudinal gradient, though most bioregions it showed mild decrease before plummeting deepest waters. Cluster analysis revealed four different bathymetric all bioregions. Despite contrasting conditions between basins claims biodiversity loss, our study that decades restricted relative abundance common pool inhabiting whole
