This work aimed to evaluate the genetic divergence among cowpea genotypes through multivariate techniques and identify those with best combination for size, production quality of grain using a selection index. The experiment was carried out at Federal University Ceará in period from February June 2008, 47 genotypes. plot eight plants, without replications. following traits were analyzed: plant pod position plant, number pods per length, seeds pod, weight hundred seeds, yield, days flowering cycle, shape color grain. main component coupled methods Tocher Euclidian distance used divergence. rank sum index superior characteristics.
