ABSTRACT
The study evaluated the effects of supplementing cashew nut shell liquid (CNSL) in diet lactating dairy cows on intake, nutrient digestibility, milk yield and composition, fatty acids composition fat. Four Holsteincows (600±43 kg) were used a 4 x Latin square design with 21 days experimental periods. Experimental treatments consisted CNSL inclusion total mixed ration (dry matter basis), as follows: 1) 0% (control, CON), 2) 0.012% (0.012), 3) 0.024% (0.024) 4) 0.036% (0.036). Dry nutrients apparent digestibility nutrients, fat corrected not affected (p > 0.05) by ration. linearly decreased C6:0 concentration < 0.02), produced quadratic response C13:1n-5 0.03) linear increase C16:1n-7 0.04). Results show that an intake up to 7 gcow-1day-1 (0.036%) may alter acid but does influence yield.
