ABSTRACT
An experimental investigation on effect of friction stir lap welding (FSLW) process parameters mechanical and microstructure AA6082-O welds is presented. Three namely tool rotational speed (1000,1400 & 2000 rpm), shoulder diameter (18, 20 22 mm) traverse (28, 56 80 mm/min) are considered. Experiments planned as per L9 Taguchi array. Data analyzed in terms S/N ratio Analysis Variance (ANOVA). Tensile shear strength observed the range 11.79 MPa to 29.23 MPa. It that most significant factors affecting tensile strength. Optimum levels (28 mm/min speed, 18 mm 1400 rpm speed) decided based analysis data. Using optimum for Al alloys improved quality welded joints can be made. Use optimized will improve performance products durability load carrying capacity.
