ABSTRACT
An automatic diagnostic monitoring system can guarantee the safety and integrity of a historic building. In this paper, we describe long term application wireless sensor network (WSN) for permanent health in Torre Aquila, tower Trento, Italy. The consists accelerometers, thermometers fiber optic sensors (FOS) with customized modules dedicated software designed communication. whole was completed started operation September 2008, data from various nodes are collected continuously, save during periods maintenance update. Based on first 1.5 years assessing stability tower, WSN is seen to be an effective tool. Modal analysis indicates that has two independent structural parts. A comparison between acquired deformation measurements simulated numerical results shows good agreement. Monitoring ambient vibration suggests such not now source concern tower.
