ABSTRACT
Concerning the 3-roll skew rolling process of round billets, a 3-D thermo-mechanical coupled simulation is performed with aid commercial FE code MSC.SuperForm. The influence feed angle and inlet cone roll on strain damage filed are investigated. It found that distribution pattern equivalent plastic in longitudinal section billet presents U-shape, make difference gradient deformation intensity radial direction billet. ring-shaped field transverse cross indicates high tendency for inner crack to occur, instead center appearing 2-roll results show critical parameters control during surface roll. should be avoided use too large angles so as reduce annular actual high-alloy steels poor hot workability.
