ABSTRACT
Ocean thermal energy (OTE) is a kind of ocean with large development potential. In this paper, new method making direct use OTE for desalination was put forward and its principles working process were also expounded. Firstly, paper established the relevant model system. The system used to maintain vacuum seawater could be evaporated at much lower temperature less than conventional technique. Secondly, parametric study carried out quantitatively. It analyzed influence on system’s operation three main parameters (temperature, mass flow consumption). Finally, improved efficiency lowest unit consumption reach 4.54kWh/m3. results indicate feasibility competitiveness against common solar method.
