ABSTRACT
Bromelain is a mixture of proteolytic enzymes presence in all tissues pineapple ( Ananas comosus ). It known for clinical use as debridement burn treatment. However, it easily degraded by light, high temperature and pH. Nanoemulsion bromelain promising to increase its stability. In this study, we investigated the nanoemulsion formulation into gel preparation order efficacy Spontaneous or self-nanoemulsifying was applied form (NEB). incorporated various types oil phase i.e virgin coconut (VCO), olive oil, vitamin E acetate combination both VCO. Cremophor RH 40 used together with polyethyleneglycol 400 reduce oil-water interface tension. The stability NEB different phases evaluated including particle size, polydispersity index, zeta potential, enzymatic activity morphology. Further, most stable hydrophilic matrix. An vivo evaluation carried out hot plate-induced skin New Zealand rabbit. Treatment wounds given applying preparations: bromelain-CMC (GKNB), using standard protocol. As control, untreated rabbit burned provided. observing wound contraction, eschar score, erythemic pus score edema. After 14 days storage, found be appropriate formula encapsulate good physical chemical stabilities. This shows clear visual appearance globule diameter 74.37 nm, narrow size distribution, loading efficiency 97.96 %, ability maintain compared corresponding nanoemulsion. system better reduction contraction until th day observation well other relevant parameters healing effects. Taken together, formulated improved showed heal burnt on animal model tested. matrix retained release resulting lower effect but may have prolonged activity.
