ABSTRACT
Purpose: IIn Malaysia, jackfruit (variety Tekam Yellow) significantly contributes to the nation’s economy. The valuable fruit production is affected by bronzing disease (JBD). Information on JBD occurrence in Peninsular Malaysia necessary develop effective control strategies. Hence, this study aimed survey and identify corresponding causative pathogens selected orchards distributed Malaysia.Research Method: A total of eight from five states were for sampling. Fruit samples described characteristic symptoms incidence was expressed percentage. identified using morphological observation molecular methods while pathogenicity test done Koch’s Postulates.Findings: ranged between 20.13-70.25%. JBD-causal pathogen isolation showed that bacterium gram-negative, oxidase-negative, non-capsulated straight rod shape with an average size 0.35 x 1.31 μm (facultative anaerobic). DNA sequence analysis 16S rRNA gene indicated 15 putative isolates unique P. stewartii one dispersal at a 99-100% similarity index. Pathogenicity suggesting caused common could co-exist dispersa.Research Limitations: number sampled low therefore, findings pose biases certain extent.Originality/Value: small Malaysia. primarily both dispersa pathosystem
